This Saturday morning, June 26th, sees the start of Western States 100 2021, perhaps the top 100 mile race in the USA. The international field is somewhat depleted this year as entrants defer due to the covid situation. Domestically however its going to be a fascinating race with Jim Walmsley returning after winning in 2018 and 2019 and breaking the course record by 37 minutes in that 2019 race. In the second event of the Ultra-Trail® World Tour 2021 Pellow and Mattas Win Ultra-Trail Australia 100 Top honours at the 2021 Ultra-Trail Australia have gone to Matthew Pellow and Cecilia Mattas, winners of the male and female UTA100 titles. The pair were both first time winners at Australia’s largest trail running festival, coming out on top after 100km around the stunning Blue Mountains course. BRIMELOW AND CROFT WIN UTA50 TITLES AT ULTRA-TRAIL AUSTRALIA The Gold Coast’s Tom Brimelow and New Zealand’s Ruth Croft have claimed the men’s and women’s UTA50 titles at Ultra-Trail Australia in the Blue Mountains. The two runners came out on top across the 50km course, which included 2,450m of elevation gain, with Brimelow finishing in 4:35:44 and Croft in 4:52:09.
