Trail Alsace Grand Est by UTMB celebrates Alsace’s heritage and its third edition with a new race: ‘La Ronde des Pages’

A must-do event for trail-running enthusiasts

Trail Alsace Grand Est by UTMB takes place from May 15 to 18, 2025 and will feature its four original race formats – the 20K, 50K, 100K and the flagship 100M (154km) – each carefully designed for all skill levels. With over 6,000 participants already signed up, and the three shorter distances sold out months ago, anticipation around the top-tier sporting experience that showcases the Alsatian landscapes is at an all-time high.

trail alsace grand estFor the 2025 edition, organisers have introduced a fifth race format to make the event even more accessible: ‘La Ronde des Pages’. This shorter, semi-nocturnal route, starting in Obernai, is designed as an entry point for newcomers to trail-running, offering them a taste of adventure in an approachable format.

‘La Ronde des Pages’: A fun and accessible new race

Trail Alsace Grand Est by UTMB is excited to introduce ‘La Ronde des Pages’, a semi-nocturnal, fun and accessible new race that invites trail runners to explore the trails around Obernai. The 17km race starts in the heart of Obernai at the Halle aux Blés, before leaving the town and passing through vineyards, orchards and forests. A refreshment point in Ottrott, and the semi-nocturnal atmosphere, will give runners a boost before returning to Obernai for the finish on the historic ramparts. The race promises a spectacular and inclusive experience and is open to all runners aged 18 and above. Addditionally, as part of the 20K category, all finishers will earn 1 Running Stone.

Registration opens on January 28 at 11:00 for UTMB Index holders, and January 30 at 11:00 for all other runners.

Sébastien Spehler returns to defend his title on the new 100M course

True to his Alsatian roots, 2024 100M champion Sébastien Spehler (FRA – UTMB Index 881) will defend his title in May on a new route over 154km with 5,800m of elevation gain that promises plenty of fresh challenges. His time to beat: 17h24’21”.

For the 2025 edition the race will start in Turckheim – one of France’s most beautiful villages – from under the majestic Porte de Munster. The route will take runners on a journey through iconic sites such as the Galtz, the Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg, and Mont Sainte-Odile.

In the women’s 100M field Anna Carlson (SWE – UTMB Index 702), who won the 100K last year in 11h37’18”, will be looking to build on her success by taking on the new 100M route.

The new-look 100M retains all its intensity and promises an adventure that meets the expectations of the most passionate trail runners.
