Snowbasin by UTMB: New WS Event

Snowbasin by UTMB®: The UTMB® World Series is heading to the heart of the Wasatch Mountains. Set to debut in Northern Utah, this inaugural event will bring the prestige of the UTMB World Series to one of the most iconic mountain destinations in the western United States.
The first edition is scheduled for September 10–12, 2026, before moving to a mid-September slot in 2027. Snowbasin Resort—a legendary venue that hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics and is slated to do so again in 2034—provides a world-class backdrop for an elite trail running experience.
The Courses: 58km and 28km
For its first year, the event will feature two primary distances designed to showcase the rugged beauty of the Ogden area:
The 58km (50K Category): A “tough but runnable” route featuring 5,800 feet of elevation gain. Runners will traverse aspen forests and fir trees, enjoying panoramic views of the Great Salt Lake and Ogden City.
The 28km (20K Category): Focused on Snowbasin’s best singletrack, this course packs 2,400 feet of climbing through mountain meadows and craggy peaks.
More Than Just a Race
The event is deeply rooted in the Ogden community. Through the Cares Bibs initiative, funds raised will be reinvested back into the local area via community grants. As Race Director and ultra-runner Alex Docta noted, the goal is to combine world-class trails with the hospitality northern Utah is famous for.
With its pristine alpine lakes and vibrant fall colors, Snowbasin by UTMB is set to become a must-run event for those looking to earn Running Stones in a high-performance setting.
Priority registration for Snowbasin by UTMB will open on Feb. 10 at 8 a.m. PT, with general registration beginning Feb. 12 at 8 a.m. PT.
