The 2025 UTMB World Series season began in spectacular fashion with a new addition to the circuit: Arc of Attrition by UTMB.

From January 24 to 26, 1180 runners completed three race formats – the Arc 100 (100M), Arc 50 (100K), and Arc 25 (50K) – set amidst the wild, unspoilt beauty of Cornwall’s Southwest Coast Path in the UK. Participants were treated to the raw splendour of this iconic coastal trail, navigating technical and breathtaking routes.

The event saw strong elite participation and course records shattered, particularly in the Arc 50 where athletes Tom Evans (UTMB Index 914) and Eleanor Davis (UTMB Index 745) delivered stunning performances with times of 06:54:40 and 07:55:48 respectively.

The “fast and furious” Arc 25 took everyone by surprise as the leaders crossed the finish line far quicker than expected. Sara Alonso (UTMB Index 782) claimed the women’s title with an impressive time of 3:04:55 while Kristian Jones (UTMB Index 887) completed the race in a remarkable 02:41:25.

In the Arc 100 athlete Lewis Ryan (UTMB Index 772), the 2024 Arc 50 winner, returned to claim victory in a commanding 19:22:35. Noor Van Der Veen (UTMB Index 644) delivered an equally outstanding performance to win the women’s race in 22:30:44.
