Grand Raid Ventoux by UTMB 2025: A Weekend of Trail Running and Solidarity at the Giant of Provence

The first edition of the Grand Raid Ventoux by UTMB brought three intense days of competition, sporting achievements, and sharing to Malaucène, France, from Friday 25th to Sunday 27th April 2025. Over 3,000 runners took part in the event, with 3,004 runners crossing the finish line. Participants represented 46 nationalities, with France, Belgium, and Switzerland being the most represented countries.
The event offered four distances, ranging from 20K to 100M, taking runners through the Vaucluse countryside and, for some, close to the summit of Mont Ventoux.
The event also mobilised 300 volunteers and supported the Œuvre des Pupilles Orphelins des Sapeurs-Pompiers du Vaucluse, raising €14,884 through solidarity race numbers and donations.

20K

The 20K race saw 928 participants set off after the rain and enjoy sunshine on an “explosive course” featuring both technical and fast sections, finishing in Malaucène.

50K

Starting on Saturday morning at 7 am, the 50K race featured a course of 50 km with 2,400 m of elevation gain. Described as an intense immersion on the slopes of Mont Ventoux, the route followed forest trails and ridges with dramatic landscapes before descending to the finish.

  • Winners: Thomas CARDIN (men) (FRA) and Adeline MARTIN (women) (FRA).

100K

The 100K race started on Saturday morning at 8:30 am. The course covered 89 km with 4,600 m of elevation gain, offering a full immersion into the diverse landscapes of the Vaucluse and Ventoux regions. Starting in Malaucène, runners traversed the Groseau nature reserve, the hilltop village of Brantes, the Toulourenc gorges, and the Col de la Chaîne, reaching the summit of Mont Ventoux at 1,909 metres. It was described as a demanding and varied route.

100M

The longest distance, the 100M, began spectacularly just before midnight on Friday, at 11:59 pm. The 124 km course headed towards the summit of the legendary Mont Ventoux, the highest point of the race at 1,909 metres. The route also took runners past the Saint-Sidoine chapel and old stone sheepfolds.

Ida-Sophie Hegemann described the climb up Mont Ventoux as her favourite moment, witnessing “the most beautiful sunrise of my life” and praising the volunteers.

The first edition of the Grand Raid Ventoux by UTMB was marked by some special sporting achievements and a festive, friendly atmosphere in Malaucène. The Ultra-Trail Village was open throughout the event, offering a chance for visitors to discover the world of trail running, test products, and enjoy local culture and workshops.
